The Shutters

The Shutters is a response to the limited daylight typically found in apartment dwellings. In the Shutters full walls of glass, both interior and exterior, allow daylight to fill all the spaces in the apartment. The occupants regulate the amount of daylight and privacy, both into the apartment and between rooms, via a system of exterior shutters and interior privacy glass and curtains. This interaction in turn animates a minimalist exterior of ever changing texture and pattern, reflecting to the world outside, the relationship between people and daylight over the course of the day.
