The un-private house
Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN
The Un-Private House, an exhibit co-mounted by the Museum of Modern Art and Walker Art Center, examines 26 contemporary homes by a roster of prominent international architects whose designs reflect the evolution of the private house in response to recent architectural innovations and changing cultural conditions.
Charlie Lazor, in collaboration with Blu Dot furniture, designed a lounge-like environment in the galleries at the Walker Art Center. Featuring panelized information boards, modular stands, and de-mountable furniture, the exhibit was designed to travel. It opted for reusable, reconfigurable exhibition elements rather than traditional build-in-place stud walls and single-use vitrines.
